The Editorial Unit Board of Directors has agreed to appoint

Joaquín Manso

as the new director of EL MUNDO , who will be in charge of leading the editorial project and maintaining the prestigious history of the publication.

Its main objective will be to guarantee the rigor and quality of information that make up the hallmarks of EL MUNDO, to face the great challenges of current journalism and digital transformation.

The appointment will be effective from next Monday, May 23.

In the words of Manso, "it will be a pride to be at the head of the most talented newsroom in Spanish journalism. A new generation, who became a journalist because they were previously a reader of EL MUNDO, take on the challenge of modernizing their values."

Joaquín Manso (Candás-Asturias, 1977) began his career at EL MUNDO in 2006, and since then he has gone through all the professional categories of the newsroom.

In 2017 he was appointed deputy director of the newspaper, taking responsibility for the Information area.

Manso is a Lawyer advising companies by the Icade.

Francisco Rosell

, who will continue to carry out managerial functions in the area of ​​the Editorial Unit.
