Vangelis, a Greek musician known for making music for the movies "Antarctica" and "Chariots of Fire," died on the 17th.


He was 79 years old.

Mr. Vangelis moved to Paris, France after a coup d'etat in Greece in 1967 and started his musical activities in earnest, and he got a lot of attention by utilizing a synthesizer that was still new at that time.

Characterized by a rich and fantastic tune, he won the Academy Award for Best Music for his music in the movie "Chariots of Fire".



In addition, he was in charge of music for the movie "Antarctica" starring actor Ken Takakura and the science fiction movie masterpiece "Blade Runner", and composed the official anthem at the 2002 Soccer Japan-Korea World Cup.
