The film and series streaming platform, which has been canceling projects lately to save money, confirms that the “Squid Game” series will indeed have a season 2. But its creator Hwang Dong-Hyuk calls for patience.
This is good news for a project that Netflix is keen on: the
Squid Game
series will have a season 2. But the many fans of this South Korean dystopian thriller will have to be patient.
They will have to wait until the end of the year 2023, or even the beginning of the year 2024. It is the creator of the series, Hwang Dong-Hyuk himself, who announced it in an interview with
Vanity Fair
.

Hwang Dong-Hyuk indeed confides to the magazine that he has just started writing this season 2: he has only written three pages!
The creator of
Squid Game
takes his time, because he does not want to rush it.
It must be said that the pressure around the continuation of the series is strong, after the worldwide success met by the first season.
Squid Game
had the best launch in Netflix history: in just 17 days, the series had been watched by 111 million people.
Season 1 had cost $21.4 million to produce, experts estimated it may have brought in $900 million.
A season 2 could therefore allow Netflix to get out of its economic difficulties.
