22 associations and offices of Lyon students sent an open letter this Wednesday to the municipality, reports Radio Scoop.

In this press release, the student groups ask Grégory Doucet, mayor of the city, Mohamed Chihi, security assistant, and Chloë Vidal, student life assistant, to strengthen measures to fight against GHB.

A climate of general fear “legitimate and nauseating”

Tuesday, May 10, students from the Mbway-Lyon school were bitten in a bar on the peninsula, leading them to publish this press release.

Bars and nightclubs, they recall, are not always sufficient to manage security, let alone associations.

Students from ECAM, ESSCA, IUT Lyon 3, and many others, are therefore requesting "the necessary help and support from the municipality to fight against this scourge: by emphasizing prevention, by financing additional security measures and by strengthening the regulations in force”.

For the past few months, GHB and the more recent phenomenon of injections have been causing, in the words of the press release, "a climate of legitimate and nauseating general fear" in France's second student city.

Sunday, May 15, an individual had been surprised with a syringe at Ninkasi Gerland, where suspicions of bites had already been reported.
