[Explanation] The special exhibition of Dunhuang Grottoes archaeology was unveiled at the Wanlin Art Museum of Wuhan University on May 18, with 168 pieces/sets of exhibits showing the fruitful achievements and major academic value of Dunhuang Grottoes archaeology in an all-round three-dimensional manner.

[Explanation] Dunhuang was the throat of the ancient Silk Road from the Central Plains to the Western Regions, and it was an important place where ancient Chinese and Western cultures gathered, collided and blended.

Dunhuang Grottoes, especially Mogao Grottoes, have precious historical, artistic and scientific value.

In 1987, the Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes were approved by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee to be included in the World Cultural Heritage List.

[Explanation] This exhibition consists of parts such as "Wandering the Silk Road", "Splendid Buddhist Palace", "Centennial Review", "Rereading History", "Course", "Collaboration of Schools and Schools", "Nice Clothes and Beauty" and "Danqing on the Wall".

168 pieces/sets of exhibits include cultural relics, murals, Buddhist scriptures, replicas of painted sculptures, and replica caves.

Among them, there are more than 30 precious cultural relics, most of which are the first time they have walked out of the Mogao Grottoes.

The main content of this exhibition is the archaeological research results of the Dunhuang Grottoes.

Unearthed cultural relics in the collection of Dunhuang Academy, as well as digital high-definition mural image materials, etc.

The results of archaeological excavations in the northern area of the Mogao Grottoes are also an important part of this exhibition.

[Explanation] Among the exhibits, it is worth seeing the Mogao Grottoes Cave 285, which witnesses the cultural exchange between China and the West, the Mogao Grottoes Cave 17, commonly known as the "Book Collection Cave", and the Mogao Grottoes, one of the first three caves to be excavated. Cave 275 and other copies of caves and national first-class cultural relics "Northern Wei Embroidery and Saying Figure", the famous "Dudu's Wife Ritual Buddha" and so on.

In fact, our exhibition is also the same, that is, there are very heavy and heavy cultural relics coming to our exhibition hall, so a very representative one is the one I have in hand called the Northern Wei Embroidery Illustration.

When we first saw this picture of teachings, we might think it was a little incomplete, but in fact, we can still vaguely identify the Buddha statues, supporters, and some written vows on it.

According to research, it was actually made by the second-generation Guangyang Wang Yuanjia in the Northern Wei Dynasty in 487. He first made such an embroidered illustration in Luoyang, and then sent it to Dunhuang for worship.

Therefore, it can be said that it reflects such a situation that the Central Plains and the culture of the Western Regions communicated at that time.

This cultural relic is now a national first-class cultural relic, and it is also a cultural relic that is prohibited to be exhibited abroad, so it can be said to be one of the must-see cultural relics in our exhibition.

[Explanation] This exhibition is jointly sponsored by Wuhan University and Dunhuang Research Institute and will last until September 18, 2022.
