Local elected officials from Val-de-Marne have decided to take the state to court.

They are asking for the depollution and restoration of the former CRS training camp located in a park in Villejuif and which has been transformed into a landfill for two years, reports

Dangerous and toxic substances

This situation has lasted since 2020, when Roma took possession of the site to organize an illegal dumping activity.

But since their evacuation on June 1, 2021, nothing has changed.

More than 50,000 cubic meters sit on this site and elected officials denounce the presence of dangerous and toxic substances.

An estimated cost between 15 and 20 million euros

Problem: the cost of this depollution is estimated between 15 and 20 million euros, not including restoration costs.

A call for tenders was launched by the State for this project in July 2021, but local elected officials have not heard back.

The prefecture indicated that a study had been commissioned by the State and that the conclusions were being exploited.
