Editor's note:

Every Chinese who works hard to live is the most beautiful struggler.

It is precisely because of hundreds of millions of strugglers that China is today.

For ten years, pay tribute to every struggle of you.

Let us work together to forge ahead in the new era, and work hard towards the future.

China News Service, Fuzhou, May 18 (Peng Lifang) She has been a doctor for 23 years, and it is difficult for doctor Shen Yulan to remember how many newborns she has delivered.

But she remembers her firmness in choosing the department of women and children when she graduated from a diversion major: "I welcome new life every day, and it feels very good."

For nearly a quarter of a century, she has gained honor and respect for her superb clinical skills, and she has shouldered responsibilities and expectations—taking the initiative to ask Ying to go to Tibet for support; after returning from aid in Tibet, she devoted herself to the new crown pneumonia epidemic without taking care of rest. in the prevention and control work.

"It is the doctor's job to save lives and heal the wounded. As long as the patients tide over the difficulties, our efforts will be worth it." Shen Yulan said in an interview with reporters a few days ago.

She is like a prism, reflecting the heroic demeanor of female medical workers in this era.

This year, Shen Yulan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jin'an District General Hospital in Fuzhou City, was awarded the title of "National March 8 Red Banner Bearer".

Not only "blood transfusion" but also "blood production" in Tibetan hospitals

In June 2017, Shen Yulan persuaded her family to take the initiative to sign up for aid to Tibet, becoming the captain of the eighth batch of medical aid teams in Fuzhou, and the only female member of the aid team.

Beautiful snow-capped mountains, white Hada, enthusiastic Tibetans... The excitement of arriving in Tibet for the first time dissipated as the altitude increased during the itinerary.

"The average altitude is more than 4,000 meters, and her feet are like stepping on cotton balls." She crossed the most dangerous Tianlu 72 on the Sichuan-Tibet line to Basu County, Qamdo City, Tibet, where she was supported.

In addition to the geographical environment, the medical conditions here broke Shen Yulan's imagination.

At that time, in Basu County, with a population of more than 39,000, the largest county hospital had only 70 beds, and the outpatient clinic, operating room, and ward were all connected together. Scarcity: Newborn babies do not take a bath, and there is no heat-insulating radiant platform. Women are pregnant, and they bend over to ram the walls and go up the mountain to dig for Cordyceps.

"I'm here to change this situation." During the more than 700 days and nights she worked at the Basu County Hospital in Tibet, Shen Yulan treated patients with postpartum hemorrhage, patients in urgent need of cesarean section, and other seriously injured patients in need of emergency treatment, etc. A total of more than 2,200 people were delivered, and more than 800 newborns were delivered.

On the tenth night in Basu County, she learned that there was a newborn who couldn't cry, so Shen Yulan flew from the dormitory to the hospital without caring about altitude sickness.

"The child's skin is blue and purple, unable to breathe on his own, and his heart rate is weak." Even today, Shen Yulan still remembers the mother's cry - "Save my child".

Shen Yulan hurriedly took out the neonatal resuscitator, cooperated with the extracorporeal compression cycle, and the baby didn't cry until half an hour later.

"The neonatal resuscitator has never been used locally." Shen Yulan realized that there may be many similar rescue cases. "The local medical staff must master basic techniques." To this end, Shen Yulan and the aid team did their best to Build a local medical team that cannot be taken away.

In addition to teaching by words and deeds, the team regularly trains and assists local medical staff, starting from the most basic medical standards, guiding the routine of obstetrics and gynecology diagnosis and treatment, and solidly improving local medical technology, "The first lesson is neonatal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, obstetrics must Master." She also led the Fuzhou medical team to assist Tibet to conduct free clinics and health education in the countryside many times to popularize health knowledge for medical care groups and local cadres.

When he left Basu, thanks to the efforts of the entire Tibetan aid team, the local medical level has made a qualitative leap: a new hospital building with advanced design concept and 200 beds has been built, and the rules and regulations of hospital management have been gradually improved. The size of secondary hospitals.

After returning from aid to Tibet to fight the "epidemic"

Shen Yulan returned from aid to Tibet in January 2020.

At the time of the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia, she took part in the prevention and control of the epidemic without taking a rest.

As an expert of the epidemic prevention and control steering group, she was ordered to be sent to an isolation point in a nursing home for 40 days.

There are hundreds of elderly people in the isolation point, and new positive cases were reported almost every day in the early stage.

Shen Yulan reminded herself that as the medical team leader, she should not panic, "If we panic again, we will be in chaos."

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, Shen Yulan has successively undertaken the heavy burden of pre-examination and triage in hospitals and inspections of epidemic prevention and control in isolated hotels.

It was normal for Shen Yulan and her team to eat lunch until two or three o'clock in the afternoon, and work outdoors until one or two in the morning in the cold night.

During the Spring Festival in 2021, all the medical team led by Shen Yulan gave up their vacation and continued to work as usual.

In September last year, an epidemic broke out in many places in Fujian Province, and Yuefeng Town, Jin'an District, Fuzhou City urgently needed to set up the first quarantine hotel.

It was only at 1:30 pm that the designated hotel as the isolation point was determined. Shen Yulan led the team to immediately study and design three areas and two channels, and instructed the installation of various isolation facilities and equipment. The first batch of isolation personnel was received at 11:30 that night, a total of 50 people.

Now, the fight against the new crown pneumonia epidemic has entered its third year, and the medical team led by Shen Yulan has received more than 1,200 observers of various types.

Take responsibility with heart and love

Shen Yulan's determination to study medicine was somewhat influenced by her mother who was a nurse.

Growing up in the hospital and seeing many rescues, Shen Yulan was daring and did not faint.

She suffered two traumatic injuries in high school, and both recovered quickly with the help of doctors, and she has "more respect for doctors" since then.

"It feels very good to welcome a new life." The first department of the internship rotation was the Department of Hematology, but Shen Yulan, who graduated from Fujian Medical University in 1999, chose to become an obstetrician and gynecologist when she was diverting her major.

In the 20 years since she was a doctor, at her busiest time, she once performed 7 operations a day to deliver 11 babies.

Although the work is arduous, she maintains a habit of setting up files and regular follow-up visits to the patients she handles.

Shen Yulan explained that the patients at Jin'an Hospital in Fuzhou in her early years were mainly migrant workers, with high mobility and low review rate. "I will leave a phone call to these patients to remind them to review regularly."

Under the normalized prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, although there are fewer consultations, her task is not easy. She not only has to take responsibility for the prevention and control of isolation points, but also "go to wherever the post is urgently needed."

"But no matter what position you are in, as long as you can make a little contribution, you don't have to care about the level of achievement." Shen Yulan always remembers that working in this industry is "from respect for life".
