After a death by drowning on Sunday, at Lacanau beach, the ocean struck again during the day on Tuesday.

Three people drowned in 24 hours - two in Gironde and one in Charente-Maritime -, while a bodyboarder is still missing.

Tuesday at 2:50 p.m., a 62-year-old bather was carried away by a bath at Grand-Crohot beach, in Lège-Cap-Ferret.

Coming out of the water, she could not be revived despite the intervention of the medical team from the Civil Security Dragon 33 helicopter.

Shortly before 5 p.m., a new alert was launched from the same beach of Grand Crohot.

It is, this time, a 69-year-old man who died, drowned.

Still looking for a missing bodyboarder at Le Porge

Earlier in the day, at 2:15 p.m., a swimmer who practiced bodyboarding was caught in a tub at the central Porge beach.

In addition to the intervention of the firefighters and the gendarmes, the Dragon 33 helicopter had already been engaged, then a Caracal helicopter from the Cazaux air base 120 came as reinforcements at the end of the afternoon.

“After three hours of fruitless investigations and for lack of new elements, the searches by directed means were suspended at 5:49 p.m.” indicates the maritime prefecture of the Atlantic.

The maritime prefecture calls on bathers "to be extremely vigilant during these periods of high tidal coefficients".

She deplores in all "three deaths due to the currents of baïne" during the day of Tuesday on the Aquitaine coast, with another tragedy which occurred in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne (Charente-Maritime).
