Disclosure of the opening date of the "Sphinx" International Airport in Egypt
The Minister of Civil Aviation in Egypt, Mohamed Manar, reviewed, during a cabinet meeting at the government headquarters in the new administrative capital, a report on the project to develop the Sphinx International Airport, west of Cairo, in Giza Governorate.
The minister explained that 90% of the project to develop the "Sphinx" International Airport, which is scheduled to start operating in mid-July, has been completed, pointing out that the development aims to make it a global airport equipped with all facilities at the latest international levels.
He stated that "Sphinx" is one of the important airports that serves residents of the governorates of Giza, Fayoum, Menoufia, Beni Suef and Minya, to relieve pressure on Cairo International Airport, noting that the development of "Sphinx" airport will allow the operation of domestic and international flights, and activate one-day tourism. It will also serve the export movement significantly.

The Minister of Civil Aviation added that the development work of Sphinx International Airport includes increasing the total area of the airport to 24,000 square meters, while increasing the capacity to 900 passengers per hour. A capacity of 7.5 mega, in addition to adding 6 elevators, 8 escalators, 4 passenger loading bridges serving 4 planes, and providing it with 20 passport counters, 26 check-in counters, and 3 baggage belts, with an increase in the number of X-ray baggage scanners to become 13 devices, in addition to making the runway accommodate 8 aircraft of different models, equipping the camera control room and achieving work discipline at the airport.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed the state's interest in advancing the civil aviation sector, which is a major supporter of the tourism sector and trade movement, pointing out that the Sphinx Airport development project is of great importance, especially because the airport is close to the pyramids area, which is witnessing great efforts at this stage in preparation for the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the reception of the Grand Egyptian Museum. its visitors
