[Explanation] The epidemic prevention and control in Shanghai has achieved initial results. However, in the designated hospitals for the new crown, there are still many new crown patients who have not been discharged from the hospital.

On May 18, a reporter from China News Agency made an exclusive connection with the medical and nursing staff in Shanghai in the "red zone" ward to learn about the treatment of new crown patients.

[Explanation] The medical staff introduced to reporters that most of the patients admitted to the designated hospitals are elderly and diagnosed patients with underlying diseases.

The average age is basically over 75 years old, and then during our peak period some time ago, I remember that basically 20% of the patients should be over 90 years old, and two elderly people may be close to 100 years old.

Some elderly people are unable to take care of themselves and have difficulty expressing themselves. Maybe they don't know or express their discomfort. There are also some elderly people who can take care of themselves, but are not sure how the new crown pneumonia will affect their health. other organs are not affected.

[Explanation] Liu Wei and Wang Tianxu said that according to the characteristics of elderly patients, more attention should be paid to the underlying diseases in treatment, and more humanistic nursing and life nursing should be done in nursing.

In fact, for these patients, we have encountered relatively few symptoms of pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus infection. Most of them are due to the aggravation of the underlying disease, which causes the recurrence of the patient's condition or some other conditions.

Therefore, for these patients, in addition to antiviral treatment, we are actually more of a treatment for the underlying disease of the patient.

Maybe the nurses have to take care of some life care, such as wiping their faces, doing perineal rinses, and finding them some clean clothes to put on when their clothes are dirty, maybe this will make them feel like they are accompanied by them at home. This feeling, which may be psychologically easier to accept, is treated here.

[Explanation] In view of the patient's condition, in addition to the departments of respiratory, critical care, and emergency departments, the medical team of the Aerospace Center Hospital also joined the departments of geriatrics, traditional Chinese medicine, and orthopedic surgery.

The medical team is divided into four shifts every day to enter the "red zone" in turn, and each shift works for 6 hours.

[Explanation] Due to the highly contagious virus in this round of epidemic, medical staff must also take adequate protection, but under the heavy protection, it also brings certain difficulties to their work.

Although our working time is only 6 hours, plus our commuting time and the time we take to put on and take off the isolation suit, if there is about one shift, the estimated time is about 9 to 10 hours, then within 9 to 10 hours , we have no choice but to eat and drink, and we may not be able to go to the toilet.

But because we do wear protective clothing, we may include puncturing him, including some operations on him, which are very difficult.

On the one hand, we will also use some instruments, including bedside ultrasound, and also rely on some experience.

The operation may be wearing two layers of gloves, and it may be slightly (difficult) for some needle sticks and infusions.

Maybe the face screen will fog up when it's very hot, maybe this is a little bit affecting the line of sight.

[Explanation] On May 17, Shanghai announced the realization of social zero, and the medical staff who have worked here for more than a month also clearly felt that the number of patients has decreased.

[Concurrent] Liu Wei, deputy leader of the Shanghai-aid medical team of the Aerospace Center Hospital affiliated to the Aerospace Medical Department of General Technology Group

Most of the time, if we were in the ward, the number of extra beds might be around 70. Then Shanghai has been getting better recently, and the number of our patients has gradually decreased. At present, it has basically dropped to about 30 beds, which is more than our peak period. Basically cut in half.

[Commentary] Liu Wei said that he believes that as the epidemic situation improves, they will soon end their aid work in Shanghai and return to Beijing.
