The prefecture of Finistère on Tuesday called on the inhabitants of the department to be "vigilant" in terms of water consumption.

The local authorities have indeed estimated in a press release that the water situation "remains dependent on future rainfall and water consumption in the department".

Insufficient rains

The finding is worrying because specialists have noted "a rainfall deficit since the beginning of the year".

Supporting map, the department deplored the low water levels of groundwater and rivers.

The recent rains, which were too light, were not enough to improve the situation.

The prefecture, however, wanted to be reassuring by indicating that “the three reserves of the department […] are full with a total volume of more than 23 million m³”.

The representatives of the State therefore ask each Finisterian to show "vigilance in his water consumption whatever its origin".
