The 140 film workers have signed a motion to the trade union Scen & Film, demanding a fairer distribution of royalty compensation to all those who contribute artistically to a film production.

Sylvia Ingemarsdotter has worked as a film editor since the 70s and has edited Bergman's Autumn Sonata, Fanny & Alexander but also Swedish film history's most watched film, Lasse Åberg's Sällskapsresan.

- It can irritate me when I see the movies constantly spinning on the TV channels, but the compensation for it is equal to zero, says Sylvia Ingemarsdotter.

to SVT.

- You should not use rude words, but the more I think about it the worse it gets.

SEK 0 for the 100-year-old

There will also be zero kronor in royalty for the Oscar-nominated masks Love Larsson and Eva von Bahr, with titles such as "The 100-year-old who stepped out the window and disappeared", "A man named Ove", "Dune" and the children's film "Lasse Maja : pattern detective ”on his CV.

They have received their salary for the assignment, but nothing more, no matter how much money the film raises.

- It can go on streaming services, sold to other countries.

The costume designer receives royalty compensation for it as soon as it is shown, but not us, says Love Larson.

- It does not feel completely solidary.

The union does not want to comment

Now they demand that the trade union Scen & Film act so that all creators who contribute artistically to a film should be involved and share the copyright.

At present, the union does not want to comment on the motion before its National Assembly, where the union's highest decision-making body will answer the motion.

Union chairman Simon Norrthon says in a written response to Kulturnyheterna that "it would be to anticipate the democratic process".

Threatens to leave the union

But as early as 1994, the National Assembly decided to "give the Federal Board the task of working for the film editors to ensure copyright compensation via collective agreements" and in 2020 Scen & Film's own investigation established that film editors, mask designers and sound designers can be considered authors of a film work.

But after that, not much has happened.

In June, the National Assembly answers the motion, and for Love Larsson and Eva von Bahr, it is only a matter of waiting and hoping for the best.

- Right now we do not have much to oppose, says Love Larson.

- We can leave Stage & Film, that's what we can do.

And many have already done so because they feel that the union is not fighting for us.
