According to Agence France-Presse, on May 16, local time, the American restaurant chain McDonald's announced that the company has finally decided to withdraw from the Russian market.
McDonald's reportedly said in a statement that the company was "seeking to sell all of its McDonald's restaurants in Russia together to local buyers," adding that while the company would continue to retain the trademark in Russia, existing stores would not be available. Reuse the McDonald's name, logo, brand and menu.
Earlier on March 8, McDonald's announced that it would temporarily close 850 stores in Russia, but would continue to pay employees.
On the same day, Starbucks Corporation and Coca-Cola Company also announced the suspension of their business in Russia.
