Lilac flowers that color the early summer of Sapporo have begun to bloom at Odori Park in Sapporo.

The annual Lilac Festival will be held from the 18th, and it is expected to be almost in full bloom this weekend.

Lilac, which is in full bloom in early summer, has become a symbol tree of Sapporo City, and about 30 types and 400 plants are planted in Odori Park in Chuo Ward.

Purple and white flowers began to bloom from the beginning of this month, and some of them were already in full bloom on the 16th.

The visitors enjoyed bringing their faces closer to each other to smell the sweet scent of flowers and taking pictures to commemorate them.

A woman in her 40s who visited from Fukushima prefecture for sightseeing said, "It is a tree that I rarely see in my hometown. It is really beautiful and has a nice scent."

According to the park's governing body, most flowers are expected to be in full bloom as early as this weekend.

In addition, the "Sapporo Lilac Festival", which will be held at the venue for the first time in three years, will be held at Odori Park from the 18th to the 29th of this month, and lilac seedlings will be sold.
