• W9 launches this Monday at 6:50 p.m. the new season of

    Adventurer Apprentices

    , hosted by Laurent Maistret.

  • Thanks to his three participations in

    Koh-Lanta

, the survival expert has been appointed to replace Moundir at the head of the show.

  • "I didn't do it to go on TV and be known, but to live a new experience," he explains to

    .

It's not the first time he's gone to a desert island, but he's never been there with a headset.

From this Monday, the public of W9 will find Laurent Maistret at the head of the new season of

Apprentis aventuriers

, the fifth of the name, from 6:50 p.m.

The former winner of

Koh-Lanta

takes over from another emblematic candidate of the TF1 show, Moundir, to supervise reality TV and its fourteen participants.

When approached by production to become the game master, the survival pro didn't immediately say yes.

Before giving his answer, he preferred to weigh the pros and cons and make a few phone calls.

Once the offer was accepted, the host had one concern: not to pass for an amateur.

“I took lessons, I worked on my texts, I worked on my elocution, he lists with

20 Minutes

.

I didn't do it to be on TV and be known, but to live a new experience”.

An adventure canceled two years ago

Before leaving for the heart of the hostile nature of southern Thailand, Laurent Maistret realized that he had a lot of text to learn, while assimilating the functioning of the game and eliminations.

"I was really heading into the unknown," he says.

Really ?

The adventurer had however already had the right to a taste of this fifth edition in March 2020, canceled due to a certain pandemic.

"It was a small preview but it served me a lot," he recalls.

I saw the way some candidates had prepared, I saw that they had the niaque.

They wanted to impress me, I felt it through their eyes and I liked it a lot.

“There are some who really surprised me”

This season sees Jessica and Thibault, Nicolo and Viriginie, Océane and Christopher, Marine and Adrien, Paga and Giuseppa, Kelegh and Marwa, as well as Simon and Adixia compete.

Profiles that we imagine more basking in the sun than counting the remaining grains of rice.

And yet… “Some had an Olympian calm, they didn't get angry.

Others insulted each other and they were friends the next day.

But in the tests, they got stoned.

Some have hurt themselves, they have injured themselves.

There are some who really surprised me”, explains Laurent Maistret who adds all the same that “some were at the end of their rope”.

The former adventurer did not tuck them in or give them a delicate massage.

On the other hand, he sometimes had to find the words to motivate them by telling them about his previous experiences, he who accumulated 101 days of survival and lost around forty kilos in three seasons of

Koh-Lanta

.

“I often took them aside, I told them things that I had experienced, I gave them advice to surpass themselves and they understood it.

“Were his words enough to avoid voluntary departures?

All that we know for the moment is that some of the apprentice adventurers wanted to ring the bell, synonymous with abandonment.
