"The meeting of Janggu, violin, and hanok. My heart is fluttering as if I have surrendered myself to the melody that moves along the wind."

The mellow melody of Janggu and violin resonates in a 122-year-old hanok cathedral.

The world melted into this unfamiliar and fresh encounter.

We are delighted that the music video <New Ritual> of duo group SaaWee, which embraces the breath of traditional culture and sublimates it into world music, has won the grand prize in the 'Best World Music' category of the 5th California Music Video Awards.

Produced in 2021, <New Ritual> is a video recording of beautiful melody expressing the dance of souls who have left the city and left for nature with the son-in-law of a duo consisting of violinist Sita Choi (Choi Bo-ram) and Janggu player Kim Ji-hye, with the background of the Korean Anglican Church in Ganghwa-do. It is a work I made.

The California Music Video Awards is an annual awards ceremony hosted by Taste TV, an American broadcasting channel. Music videos from the United States as well as other countries are accepted into 37 competition categories and awarded after review by the jury.

Previously, 'Heuksalpuri', a project work for the 'Korean Traditional Musicians' in 2020 (starring Kim Yong-cheol and Seop Dance Company), won the London International Music Video Awards in the 'Best Dance Music Video' category in June of last year.

The music video production project for 'Gugak' is a project to support private Korean traditional music groups that have lost the opportunity to stand on stage due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

From the 8th of next month to the end of the year, the National Gugak Center plans to release a total of 30 works every Wednesday through the National Gugak Center YouTube channel.
