All Kendrick Lamar fans have marked May 13 in the calendar.

It is then the rapper's long-awaited and fifth album “Mr.

Morale & The Big Steppers ”is coming.

The new single "The heart part 5", is a concept that has followed throughout Kendrick Lamar's career.

Before each album release, a single titled "The Heart" comes as a sort of taste of what is to come - or a warning to other rappers that Kendrick is back to take over.

This time it feels more like a goodbye.

The video disappeared from Youtube

"The Heart part 5" became a big music news in a few hours.

In part, it is Kendrick's first single in 4 years, but also because the video stands out in many ways.

In the stripped-down music video, Kendrick Lamar is seen in front of a burgundy wall.

He raps while his face is replaced by other famous faces: OJ Simpson, Will Smith, Kanye West, Kobe Bryant, Jussie Smollett and Nipsey Hussle.

Some of the person has been "canceled", some have passed away.

After a number of hours, the video was downloaded from Youtube - to later reappear.

Why it disappeared and was re-posted is unclear at the time of writing.

Is about different perspectives

The song begins with Kendrick telling his fans that with age he has realized that life is about perspective and that his perspective is different from yours.

At the same time as Kendrick's face is replaced, the text changes in different perspectives.

He raps "In the land where hurt people hurt more people", the face is now exchanged for Will Smiths.

Last year came Will's autobiography where he opens up about his tough childhood and violent father.

In March, he made world headlines after slamming comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars.

Injured people hurt even more people.

Tributes to Nipsey Hussle

The last verse is dedicated to the American rapper Nipsey Hussle.

Nipsey had struggled with his music career for many years, released a handful of mixtapes and in 2018 came his debut album "Victory lap" which gave him his first Grammy nomination ever.

Nipsey was committed to giving back to the community and its neighborhoods through investment.

Among other things, he had a store in south Los Angeles, tragically it was exactly where he was shot dead in 2019. A death message that shocked the whole hip-hop world.

Now Kendrick's face changes to Nipseys informing his family that he is in heaven.

"And to the killer that sped up my demise, I forgive you, just know your soul is in question", he forgives the killer in the same leadership spirit as Nipsey had.

The beginning of the end

Through "The Heart part 5", Kendrick Lamar tries to explain that life is about perspectives and we all have different perspectives.

We live in a time where a mistake in combination with the cancel culture can mean the end of your career.

Kendrick does not defend, he tries to explain and through it spread some form of understanding.

As much as it feels like a social comment, as much it feels like the beginning of the end.

Like a farewell from Kendrick Lamar.

Maybe the album that comes on Friday will be the last we get from him.
