In a few hours, the Côte d'Azur will welcome film personalities from all over the world for the Cannes Film Festival.

La Croisette is working hard to prepare the Palais des Festivals and its famous marches, while the commune of the Alpes-Maritimes is about to see its population triple.

"That's for the location of the barriers."

A map in hand, Stéphane is scouting in front of the Palais des Festivals.

On May 18, the Cannes Film Festival begins.

"We have at least 200 meters [to go on] the forecourt and then we have the whole road to do."

On the facade of the Palace, the festival poster was hung in front of some enthusiastic Cannes residents.

"We see a man climbing the stairs, it's superb. It's all blue. We wait for the festival every year. That's what makes Cannes."

The Palais des Festivals teams also set up more than 300 stands.

"This is the beginning for you. For us, the beginning has already begun for a while," the technical manager at the Palace told Europe 1.

"After the Cannes edition in July last year, we go back to the origins of the Cannes Film Festival - a big festival."

A comeback after the coronavirus pandemic

The hotel industry also has a smile.

Christine Welter, president of the Cannes hoteliers' union, does not let go of her phone.

“Across the hotel industry as a whole, we are full from Tuesday and Wednesday over a week. We are very happy. After two years of pandemic, it is a turnover, but it is above all to have Cannes in the spotlight again."
