On the 15th, 50 years after Okinawa returned to the mainland, a workshop was held in Haebaru Town, Okinawa Prefecture, where local elementary school students learned about the time of their return and thought about the future of Okinawa.

A total of 39 students from the 5th and 6th grades of Haebaru Elementary School participated in the workshop held at the Haebaru Cultural Center.

First, after returning from a local who knew the time, I heard that school lunch changed from skim milk powder to bottled milk and that the school was instructed not to use the Okinawan word "Uchinaguchi". ..

After that, we divided into groups and discussed on the theme of "whether Okinawa is rich or not".

The children commented that they had become richer since their return, and that they could not be said to have become richer unless the problems of the US military base were resolved.

Then, in order to realize a prosperous society, it was important to realize a safe life and dreams, to protect nature and pass on abundant resources to the next generation, and announced the conclusions made by the group.

A 6th grade elementary school girl who participated said, "I'm glad I heard about the war and the old school lunch. I want to make Okinawa where I can live with peace of mind without war."
