Li Yu, 78, is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a national model for poverty alleviation, and the former president of Jilin Agricultural University.
He injected scientific and technological elements into the poverty alleviation of the edible mushroom industry, and helped more than 800 villages and more than 35,000 poor households to achieve poverty alleviation. He is known as the "Mushroom Academician".
According to the official introduction of Panshi City, Li Yu's team authorized 29 scientific research achievements to be used locally, helping the Ganoderma lucidum industry to complete technological innovations in planting, production and other links.
