On May 9, the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Institute of Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences) announced that a scientific research team led by researcher Xu Guanghui of the institute discovered a complete marine reptile 244 million years ago in Honghe, Yunnan. Fossil, through in-depth analysis and research, confirmed that it is the longest tail in the world and the earliest new genus of Pachyliposaurs in China, and named this marine reptile "Long-tailed Red River Dragon".

  This important discovery and research paper on ancient marine reptile fossils was recently published in the international academic journal "Scientific Reports", which is of great significance for the academic community to study the evolution of marine reptiles and the marine ecosystem at that time.
