Buckingham Palace and a BBC broadcaster announced yesterday that never-before-seen footage of Britain's Queen Elizabeth as a young girl before ascending the throne will be shown in a new documentary to be released at the end of this month.

The parade on May 29 will precede the celebrations of the seven decades of the Queen's accession to the throne.

BBC historical affairs editor Simon Young said: "This documentary is an extraordinary glimpse into a deeply personal side of the royal family that is rarely seen, and it is wonderful to be able to show it to the nation as we celebrate their platinum jubilee."

The BBC indicated that the producers watched more than 400 videos, including behind the scenes of events in Britain, as well as more than 300 speeches given by the Queen.

The 96-year-old Queen completed seven decades on the throne last February, and she will organize the "Platinum Jubilee" events, which will last four days, to celebrate this occasion in early June.

The celebrations will begin with the annual military parade in central London, followed by a mass at St Paul's Cathedral, a concert in front of Buckingham Palace, and a festival across the British capital.
