The film "Sola", directed by Algerian director Salah Essaad, won the award for the best feature film at the Malmö Arab Film Festival, which brought the curtain down on its 12th session, the day before yesterday, in Sweden.

The film's heroine, Sula Bahri, won the best actress award at the festival, while the Egyptian Mohamed Mamdouh won the best actor award for his role in the movie "Abu Saddam" directed by Nadine Khan.

Tunisians Anis Al-Aswad and Shama Benchaaban won the script award for the movie "Qadha", and their compatriot Mehdi Hamili won the directing award for the movie "Atyaf".

The jury awarded its special prize to the film "Farah", directed by Jordanian Dareen Salam.

The committee also commended the Jordanian film "The Hara", directed by Basil Ghandour.

Founded in 2011 in the Swedish city of Malmö, the festival is the largest Arab film festival in the Scandinavian countries.

In the feature-length documentary competition, he won the award for the best film, “Lola Space for the Metro,” directed by George Hashem from Lebanon.

The jury awarded its special prize to the film "From Cairo", directed by Egyptian director Hala Galal.

In the short film competition, he won the award for the best film “Then Darkness Comes” directed by Marie-Rose Osta from Lebanon, while the jury awarded its prize to the film “Devil” directed by Emile Guelati from Tunisia.

The jury commended the films “Night” by Palestinian director Ahmed Saleh, and “Then They Burn the Sea,” directed by Majid Al-Rumaihi from Qatar.

The audience award, presented by the Culture Office in Malmö, went to the Jordanian film "The Hara", starring Imad Azmi, Munther Rayhana, Maysa Abdel Hadi and Nadera Omran.

The founder and director of the festival, Mohamed Qablawi, said in his closing speech: "After a session that is the largest in the history of the festival, in terms of quantity and quality, we must work from today or tomorrow in order to remain at the same level for the next year."

He added, "Today we bid farewell to the 12th edition of the festival, but we remember beautiful and wonderful films that we saw, new friends we got to know, and memories that brought us together in this intimate city, with an increase in knowledge and different cultures."

In the end, the festival screened the Egyptian film "The Title Holder", directed by Hisham Fathy, starring Hisham Majed, Dina El-Sherbiny, Ahmed Fathi and Mohamed Salam.
