Wednesday, May 4, the Dominican brothers of the province of Toulouse revealed "serious facts" and "confirmed" committed by members of their community and called on possible victims to come forward to the Recognition and Reparation Commission (CRR).

The prosecutor of the Republic of Rodez, Olivier Naboulet, indicates on Monday that he has opened an investigation targeting a brother of the abbey of Sylvanès for sexual assault and rape of a minor under the age of 15.

And judicial sources confirm the identity of the accused, already revealed by the Catholic daily La Croix.

This is André Gouzes, 78, a monk well known for his liturgical compositions and for having undertaken in 1975 the restoration of the Cistercian abbey which he transformed into a center for training in sacred music.

The brother was implicated by the testimony of the mother of a victim, a young boy.

"The facts took place in the mid-2000s", specifies the public prosecutor of Rodez.

Following these revelations, members of the CCR will travel to Toulouse on May 30 and 31 to collect testimonies to identify other possible victims of sexual abuse.
