Do we know everything about Charles Baudelaire?

The French poet of "Fleurs du Mal" and "Artificial Paradises" still has secrets to reveal to us.

Indeed, a rare work by the author was found in the collection of a scholar in Lons Le Saunier, in the Jura during an auction organized last week.

It was sold for 69,000 euros.

A letter from Victor Hugo for Charles Baudelaire

It's not the author's best-known book.

It is "Théophile Gautier", a small 68-page book, written in Honfleur in 1859 on the writings of Théophile Gautier.

In this book there is also a letter from Victor Hugo to Charles Baudelaire.

A dedication is inscribed: "to my old friend Sainte-Beuve", the dreaded literary critic.

That's a lot of 19th century stars in a single book, which explains the tidy sum of 69,000 euros.
