  The China Earthquake Networks officially determined that an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred in the waters of Hualien County, Taiwan (24.01 degrees north latitude, 122.51 degrees east longitude) at 14:23 on May 09, with a focal depth of 16 kilometers.

  After the earthquake, people in many places along the coast of Fujian felt an obvious tremor.

Xu Liang, who works in a high-rise building in downtown Fuzhou, introduced that the earthquake was relatively strong, and the chandeliers in the office shook obviously for more than 10 seconds.

Xiao Chen, a third-year student studying in a university in Xiamen, told reporters that during class, the projector shook obviously due to the impact of the earthquake.
