[Explanation] At 9:00 a.m. on May 8, the election of the sixth chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region began.

Members of the Election Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region came to the main polling station located at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to cast a secret ballot on a one-person, one-vote basis.

This election is the first chief executive election after the improvement of the Hong Kong SAR's electoral system.

[Explanation] The validly nominated candidate in this election is Li Jiachao, who is the former Chief Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

Each electoral committee can cast a vote of support or no vote, and the voting time will last until 11:30.

After the polls are over, the counting of votes will be carried out manually by the staff of the counting station.

After the counting of votes, the Returning Officer announced the election results.

[Concurrent] Chen Yingxin, member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Election Committee

I will definitely participate actively, and I will also fulfill my responsibilities as an electoral committee to elect a Chief Executive who can bring good governance and good governance to us Hong Kong citizens and bring a new atmosphere.

[Concurrent] Lin Lin, member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Election Committee

(I will) leave it to the end, let's applaud together, and support it together. I think it is a very good thing for Hong Kong. We must support it with all our strength, and then we all work together.

[Concurrent] Xie Xiaohong, member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Election Committee

As the election committee of the fifth sector, I will definitely do my best to fulfill this duty, because I think it is very important for Hong Kong to elect a chief executive who can implement "one country, two systems" and who loves the country and Hong Kong, so I hope , I am also very honored to be this electoral committee, to (for) elect this new chief executive, to cast my holy vote.

[Explanation] Due to the epidemic, in order to reduce the flow of people at the main polling station, the voting time is 30 minutes longer than previous elections.

According to the five sectors of the Election Committee, the Election Administration Commission of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has divided different "recommended polling time periods" for the Election Committee to go to the main polling station to vote.

During the interview, some electoral committees said that the overall arrangement of this election is more reasonable, and they will actively perform their duties and actively participate in voting.

[Concurrent] Yao Penghui, member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Election Committee

I am very satisfied with the whole process of this election, whether it is this one or the last Legislative Council election.

Because it is mainly during this period of time that we are under the epidemic, whether it is for prevention and control or other needs, I think the (SAR) government has arranged very well-organized, so that everything can progress so smoothly.

It's something I feel proud of as a Hong Konger.

I will definitely cast my holy vote positively to ensure that Hong Kong gets a good chief executive.

[Concurrent] Jin Ling, member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Election Committee

As an electoral representative of a grass-roots association, I represent the women's sector of grass-roots associations. In fact, I have a lot of expectations of our grass-roots women's associations for the new team in terms of women's policy.

I hope that in this regard, we can represent our grassroots women's groups and help the government to contribute to the implementation of future policies.

[Concurrent] Zhao Shuang, member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Election Committee

I think the voting arrangement this time is very comprehensive, and all the details have actually been considered.

During the voting process, I believe that every electoral committee cast his own vote after his own thinking, and I see it as fair and just.

I believe that after this election, a very capable, courageous and leading "patriot" will be elected for the people of Hong Kong to govern Hong Kong.
