In the sinking accident of a sightseeing boat that killed 14 people and lost 12 people off the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido, a private specialist started searching underwater using an unmanned submersible from the 8th.

On the 23rd of last month, 14 passengers were killed and 12 people are still missing in the accident where the sightseeing boat "KAZU 1 (19 tons)" carrying 26 passengers and crew sank off the coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula.

At the sinking site, from the 8th, a private salvage company's work vessel "Shin-Nippon Maru" began searching around the submerged vessel at a depth of about 120 meters using an unmanned submersible.

According to the 1st Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, as of 3:00 pm, no new clues have been found that could lead to the discovery of the missing person.

Meanwhile, a small police underwater camera that could not be recovered from the sunken ship was found and was withdrawn to a work ship.

The search by the unmanned submersible continued after the 9th, and other work vessels will join in the future, and by the end of this month, the diver will dive to the bottom of the sea in a way that can cope with the deep sea called "saturation diving" and will be inside the ship. I will check if there are any people left behind.

In addition, searches at sea will be conducted throughout the night over a wide area from the Shiretoko Peninsula to the northern territory of Kunashir Island, and the Japan Coast Guard Headquarters and the Self-Defense Forces will hurry to find the missing person.
