At the wholesale market in Sapporo City, the auction of melons produced in Abira Town was held for the first time this season as melons produced in Hokkaido.

On the 7th, "Oiwake Asahimeron" produced in Abira Town arrived at the Sapporo Central Wholesale Market.

In the auction, which was held for the first time this season as a melon produced in Hokkaido, 84 boxes of melons harvested on the 6th, a total of 404 balls, were traded.

While the bidders shouted, the middlemen bid off one after another, and the highest price was the same as last year, 5 balls, 220,000 yen.

"Oiwake Asahimeron" is characterized by its strong sweetness and refreshing aftertaste. Although it was difficult to do farm work due to the influence of snow, the result was the same as usual.

Takashi Yasui, the head of the Oiwake Asahimeron Association of the Tomakomai Wide Area Agricultural Cooperative, said, "I am grateful that you bought it at a price that is more than enough. I want to deliver delicious melons to consumers."

Production of melons produced in Hokkaido will begin in earnest over the summer, and shipments of "Yubari melons" and "Furano melons" are expected to begin in sequence.
