In the accident where a sightseeing boat sank off the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido, 12 people are still missing 14 days after the accident.

The Japan Coast Guard and others have been searching in the waters around the Shiretoko Peninsula and Kunashir Island in the Northern Territories for 6 days.

On the 23rd of last month, 14 passengers were killed and 12 people were missing in the accident in which the sightseeing boat "KAZU 1" (19 tons) carrying 26 passengers and crew sank off the coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula.

On the 6th, which is the 14th day after the outbreak, the 1st Regional Coast Guard Headquarters and the Self-Defense Forces are searching for missing persons at sea, mainly around the Shiretoko Peninsula.

In addition, we are searching for people who have been washed away by the Japan Coast Guard patrol boat in the waters around Kunashiri Island, but as of 11:00 am, we have not found any new clues.

On the other hand, the search on the ship of the sunken "KAZU 1" has not progressed since the police underwater camera entered inside on the 3rd of this month, and the Japan Coast Guard is a private company specializing in dealing with marine accidents. We request a salvage company to conduct a field survey.

The salvage company's ship is expected to arrive at the site sea area as early as 7 days, and in addition to checking the situation inside the ship with an unmanned submersible, we will also conduct an investigation by a diver.
