Launched on October 16, 2021, the “Zero Waste Families” challenge is a real success in Maisons-Alfort (Val-de-Marne).

The 130 participating families managed to reduce their total waste production by 41% in just six months, the monthly weigh-ins showed.

The operation was initiated by the Paris Est Marne et Bois territory, specifies

.

The objective is to learn how to make your own cleaning products or cosmetics and adopt a zero waste diet to achieve a reduction in waste production of between 22 and 42%.

To achieve this result, the families were supported by the Ecocityzen association.

Regular training

The latter organized different theoretical and practical workshops each month.

Thanks to this, the households concerned were able to discover the existence of biobuckets, a small bin in which they stored their food waste.

Now that the challenge is over, families can continue on their own but also become true ambassadors of this eco-citizen approach.
