Next Monday, the activities of the second international translation conference, organized by the National Archives and Library, will be launched under the slogan “Translation and Preserving the Memory of the Nation: The Image of the UAE in Cultures, Literatures and Global Intellectual Heritage.” What has been translated about it, its civilizational renaissance, and the image of the UAE in the eyes of the world.
A group of senior researchers, led by Professor Patrick Murphy from Central Florida State University in the United States of America, Professor Terrence Craig from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, Canada, and Dr. Ahmed Al Shahi from Oxford University will participate in the Second International Translation Conference, organized by the National Archives and Library. and Professor Igor Maver from the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia.
The conference includes 10 axes, the most prominent of which are: “The Emirates in the Eyes of Others: Issues in Translation and Thought,” “The Challenges of Translation and Strengthening National Identity,” and “The Role of Translation in Enhancing Emirati Civilization Achievements at the Global Level.”

Dr. Maher El-Sherbiny from Cairo University will present a research paper on the Japanese language entitled “Problems of translating proper names from the Japanese language.” Dr. Ilham Badr from the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University discusses translation issues related to the interlacing between the Hebrew and Yiddish languages in a paper entitled “Machine translation and its role in digitizing the Arabic language: Improving the quality of machine translation from Hebrew into Arabic (exotic words from Yiddish to Hebrew as an example).”
