Video service HBO Max has released a teaser trailer for the series "House of the Dragon" - the prequel to "Game of Thrones".

The action of the tape takes place many years before the events of the main series.

The plot centers around the history of House Targaryen, whose two branches are engaged in a bloody civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.

The roles are played by Paddy Considine (King Viserys Targaryen), Olivia Cooke (Alicente Hightower), Matt Smith (Prince Damon Targaryen), Emma D'Arcy (Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen) and other actors.

The showrunners are Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones) and Ryan Condal (Rampage).

George Martin acts in the project as one of the producers and screenwriters.

The plot is based on his novel Fire and Blood.

At the very beginning of the cutscene, Rhaenyra Targaryen appears.

At the same time, the audience hears a voice-over that asks the question, "What is the point of this short mortal life, if not in the pursuit of leaving a legacy?"

Then the members of the great houses, Rickard Stark, Corlis Velarion, and Boremond Baratheon, are introduced in turn.

They pledge allegiance to King Viserys Targaryen and his daughter and heiress Rhaenyra.

After that, Rhaenys Velarion warns the girl that men will not want to obey her.

The following footage hints at the many intrigues and conflicts that will be shown in the series.

A fire-breathing dragon also appears in the trailer, and the voice-over continues: “History does not remember (spilled. -

) blood.

She remembers names."

Among other things, in the video you can see the spectacular locations in which the shooting took place, and imagine how large-scale the project will be.

The production of each of its ten episodes cost filmmakers about $20 million, while the season of Game of Thrones, which includes six to ten episodes, cost about $100 million. .

As Miguel Sapochnik told The Hollywood Reporter, House of the Dragon was filmed with everything that was shown in the Game of Thrones - the filmmakers did not seek to come up with a completely new project.

“We are not trying to reinvent the wheel.

The House of the Dragon has its own voice that will change and shape throughout the series.

But above all, it is extremely important for us to pay tribute to the original series, which in many ways has become truly revolutionary.

We stand on his shoulders.

Without him, we wouldn't be here.

Therefore, the most important thing for us is to treat the original project with the utmost respect and try to supplement it, and not reinvent it,” says Sapochnik.

Earlier, HBO Max showed the first teaser for "House of the Dragon".

It also introduces some key characters and features clips from various fight scenes.

Some of the material has already been seen by George Martin.

“I liked what I saw.

Can't wait to see the rest," the writer said on his blog.

The premiere of "House of the Dragon" is scheduled for August 21.

Currently, work is underway on a number of projects related to the Game of Thrones universe.

Among them is the series "Sea Serpent" about the merchant and navigator Corlis Velarion.

The hero will also appear in the "House of the Dragon" - his role went to Steve Toussaint ("Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time").

The central character of the series "10,000 ships" will be one of the progenitors of the Martell family, the warrior queen Nymeria.

The action of the tape will unfold almost a thousand years before the events of the Game of Thrones‎.

A film adaptation of The Tale of Dunk and Egg and an animated series The Golden Empire have also been announced.

George Martin takes part in the work on all projects.

“I am very much involved in the creation of each of the upcoming series.

It's my world, and while I work very closely with various amazing writers and creators of the series, it's up to me to ultimately ensure that the canon stays... well, canon... and do my best to help make new shows great. “‎,” says the writer.

At the same time, he continues to work on the second volume of the Fire and Blood series and the novel The Winds of Winter, the sixth and penultimate book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series that formed the basis of Game of Thrones.
