The accident in which a sightseeing boat sank off the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido was 14 days after the accident, but 12 people are still missing.


The Japan Coast Guard and others have decided to expand the scope of the search and rush to find the missing person.

On the 23rd of last month, 14 passengers were killed and 12 people were missing in the accident in which the sightseeing boat "KAZU 1" carrying 26 passengers and crew sank off the coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula.



Even now, 14 days after the accident, the search continues through the night around the sea area, but no new clues have been found so far.



According to the 1st Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, from the 5th, patrol vessels of the Japan Coast Guard are searching for the area to the west of Kunashir Island in the Northern Territories.

The Japan Coast Guard Headquarters explains that this is due to coordination with the Russian side.



The Japan Coast Guard Headquarters will continue to search the sea jointly with the Self-Defense Forces and the police, and will also use an underwater camera to check the inside of the sunken "KAZU 1".



On the other hand, regarding the accident, the Japan Coast Guard Headquarters is investigating on the suspicion of accidental fatalities in business, and is continuing to investigate whether there are any problems with the company's safety management system by voluntarily asking the president of the operating company about the situation.
