On the 5th, the U-turn rush of people who spent their time in their hometowns and resorts made the highways and airports crowded.

According to the Japan Road Traffic Information Center, as of 6:00 pm, the up line of each expressway


is 24 km from the vicinity of the Kobotoke Tunnel on the border between Tokyo and Kanagawa on the Chuo Expressway, and on the


Kan-Etsu Expressway in Saitama. There is a traffic jam of 22 km at the

beginning near the Kosaka service area, and 22 km at the


beginning near the Tsuburano Tunnel in Kanagawa on the Tomei Expressway.



According to airlines, the reservation rate for flights from various locations to Haneda and Osaka exceeds 80%, and it is almost full all day.



The Shinkansen was congested with the Tohoku Shinkansen and Joetsu Shinkansen, with the occupancy rate of unreserved seats exceeding 100%.



It means that there was no noticeable congestion on the Tokaido Shinkansen except for a part.



The U-turn rush will continue mainly on the expressway after the 6th, and according to NEXCO Central Japan, it is predicted that the Tomei Expressway and the Chuo Expressway will be congested over 30km on the 6th.
