A family shares their home with a giant spider and hopes it will grow more

Not only did members of an Australian family allow a giant spider to live with them, they named it a pet name, "Charlotte", after it appeared in their home a little more than a year ago.

According to the head of the family, Jake Gray, the wild hunter spider first appeared in their home in Cairns, far north of Queensland a little over a year ago.

And despite the initial shock, Jack's kids are now used to seeing "The Beast" roaming their home.

The man told IFL Science: ""We first spotted Charlotte 12 months ago and he was bigger than usual and all year round it's been surfacing.

One of the most remarkable events was seeing him eat a gecko."

However, not everyone feels comfortable about sharing an eight-legged creature, especially this size in their home.

The large creature piques the curiosity of the family's followers on social media, as Jake assures them that Charlotte is "bigger than usual" and nonetheless "hopes to grow even more" in the future.

According to the newspaper "Mirror".

Charlotte is a type of hunter and predatory spider, and it is known to grow to large and frightening sizes, but it does not seem to frighten this family at least.

According to spider expert Linda Rayor, “In 14 years of studying Australian hunter spiders, I have dealt with several thousand of them and been bitten 11 times. Only when I (mostly) deserved it."
