Since the announcement of the 18 monuments selected for the Loto du Patrimoine 2022, the municipality of Gien (Loiret) can consider an ambitious renovation of the Maison des Alix, which began in 2021. It should receive an unexpected endowment.

"This will make it possible to complete our budget, to shine the spotlight on the city and to make the monument known to as many people as possible", reacted to the

Francis Cammal, the mayor.

In a worrying state

The Maison des Alix, which is the oldest building in Gien (Loiret), dates from the 16th century.

It was spared the bombardments of the Second World War.

However, his condition deteriorated dramatically.

The town hall had begun in November 2021 the restoration of the vestige which threatened to collapse.

A budget of more than one million euros has been allocated to this project, which should last eighteen months.

Thanks to the Loto du Patrimoine 2022, the socialist town hall can hope to consider new work to safeguard the monument.
