In order to protect biodiversity, the Ministry of the Environment has expanded the area of ​​national parks and living organisms with the goal of increasing the proportion of areas that preserve healthy ecosystems in the country to 30% or more by 2030. In order to protect endangered flora and fauna and conserve biodiversity, the national government has set a goal of conserving more than 30% of each of the land and sea areas of the country as national parks and wildlife sanctuaries by 2030.



However, at present, the ratio is only 20.5% in land areas and 13.3% in sea areas, and the Ministry of the Environment has summarized measures to achieve the target.



According to this, regarding national parks and quasi-national parks where the collection of animals and plants is regulated, efforts are being made to expand the area of ​​existing parks and to newly designate areas that require high conservation as parks. ..



In addition, a new system called OECM will be established to certify biotopes and green spaces of private companies and research institutes that are not included in national parks as places that contribute to the conservation of biodiversity, and certify more than 100 places. increase.



Regarding biodiversity, at the United Nations conference "COP15" scheduled to be held around the summer, discussions were held on the adoption of a universal goal of conservation of 30% or more in land and sea. It is expected to be done.
