On the night of the 3rd, a fire broke out in a house in Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture, and two people were found dead.
The elderly couple living in this house have lost contact and police are in the process of verifying their identities.
After 11:00 pm on the 3rd, a person living nearby reported to the fire department that "a neighborhood house is burning" in Ochiai, Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture.
The fire was extinguished about two hours later, but one wooden one-story house was burnt and two people were found dead in the burnt remains.
According to police, an elderly couple lives in this house and cannot be contacted after the fire.
Police are checking the identity and investigating the cause of the fire.
The site is an area where houses are scattered in rice fields and fields, about 500 meters east of Ochiaigawa Station on the JR Chuo Main Line.
