In the accident where a tourist boat sank off the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido, a police underwater camera entered the sunken ship for the first time on the 3rd, but no clue was found that could lead to the discovery of the missing person.

The Japan Coast Guard Headquarters and the police will carry out search activities in the sea for four days.

On the 23rd of last month, 14 passengers were killed and 12 people were missing in the accident where the tour boat "KAZU 1" carrying 26 passengers and crew sank (19 tons) off the coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula.

As a result of searching for people left behind in "KAZU 1" where the 1st Regional Coast Guard Headquarters sank, the police underwater camera entered the ship for the first time on the 3rd.

However, although we were able to confirm some parts of the ship, such as the chairs in the cabin, we could not find any clues leading to the discovery of the missing person.

The Japan Coast Guard and police will continue to search at sea, and will conduct underwater search activities using underwater cameras until the ship of a private salvage company arrives at the site sea area, and hurry to find the missing person. I am doing it.

On the other hand, regarding the accident, the Japan Coast Guard Headquarters is proceeding with an investigation on suspicion of accidental fatalities in business.

On the day of the accident, the president of the operating company set sail with the captain on a "conditional departure" to return when the sea was rough, even though bad weather was expected from the afternoon and the means of communication between the company and the ship was insufficient. Having decided, the Japan Coast Guard Headquarters will investigate in detail whether there were any problems with such departure decisions and safety management systems.
