Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) has panels providing visitors with information on the city's remarkable sites.

Mayor François Bayrou (MoDem) inaugurated the device this Friday.

Eventually, 155 elements will be installed in the municipality.

They will be brown in the city center and green in natural spaces, specifies

155 signage elements

142 aluminum signs and 13 signs hanging from trees are planned.

The informative texts are available in French, English and Spanish and accompanied by old illustrations.

Each item also features a QR code that users can scan for additional smartphone details or information in other languages.

The objective is to make the heritage of Pau better known by telling, for example, the history of a place or by specifying the species of a tree.

The municipality has allocated a budget of nearly 297,000 euros to this project.

“It will become a reflex to turn to this signage,” commented François Bayrou.
