On May 1, local time, in the drizzle, a memorial ceremony for police officers killed in the line of duty was held in Toronto, Canada.

This is the first time the annual commemoration has resumed after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The memorial service was held in front of the Ontario Provincial Police Memorial in downtown Toronto.

The family members of some deceased police officers and retired police officers attended the ceremony.

The commemoration is hosted by the Ontario Provincial Police Memorial Foundation.

The names of six police officers who died in the line of duty will be added to the monument's Wall of Honour this year, bringing the list to 272.

Thousands of police officers from different parts of Ontario and different police types formed several phalanxes to participate in the commemorative ceremony.

Ontario Governor Dudswell and Premier Ford attended the event.
