Two electric charging terminals dedicated exclusively to refrigerated truck trailers will be installed on the Saint-Rambert Est motorway rest area (Drôme).
The devices will be available by summer for vehicles traveling on the A7 in the Marseille – Lyon direction, specifies
Le Dauphiné Libéré
.
Motors finally shut down
The system could be useful for truck drivers, who are obliged to take 45-minute breaks every four and a half hours.
Without these terminals, drivers with refrigerated trailers cannot indeed stop the engine of their vehicle.
This deployment should therefore limit particulate emissions and noise likely to disturb neighbors and drivers alike.
This project is part of the “Low carbon highway” plan recently unveiled by Vinci Autoroute, the newspaper indicates.
If this test phase is conclusive, six additional terminals could be installed after the summer.
The ultimate goal is to install this type of equipment in other areas.
