A resident of Sarcelles (Val-d'Oise) alerted the Paris Animal Zoopolis (PAZ) association to the city's methods for getting rid of pigeons.
Spikes, a rather classic method, were installed on the buildings around the Place de France.
But the capture cages caught the association's attention, reports Le Parisien.
Died of hunger or thirst
At least one of them was spotted and filmed on April 3.
With these, the pigeons get trapped and can no longer get out.
Once they are trapped, the birds "can be gassed in CO2 boxes or, otherwise, they die of hunger, thirst or exhaustion", denounced the co-founder of the association.
PAZ has contacted the municipality, without response for the moment.
The organization intends to seize the commission for access to administrative documents on May 5.
According to the activist, other methods exist to limit the number of pigeons in town, such as dovecotes or contraceptive seeds.
