At the Shirahama beach in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture, which is known for its beautiful sandy beaches, the sea opened as early as possible, and many tourists enjoyed swimming.

Shirahama Beach in Shirahama Town is called "Honshu's earliest" every year and opens in May.

Last year, it was postponed due to the influence of the new corona, but this time, we took measures such as postponing the installation of changing rooms and opened the sea on the 3rd.

After a Shinto ritual praying for safety was held in front of the altar on the sandy beach, tourists and local children rushed to the beach all at once, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the sea.

Under the clear sky, the visitors were swimming comfortably and pouring water on each other.

A father who visited with seven family members from Osaka said, "It's great to be able to swim in the sea in May. I'm glad that the children were having fun."

Makoto Itani, the mayor of Shirahama Town, said, "The long-awaited season has come. I want to appeal to the whole country the energetic Shirahama Town that is not defeated by Corona."

Shirarahama Beach is scheduled to open until August 31st.
