Soloists of the youth orchestra performed ABBA songs at the Swedish Consulate in St. Petersburg

“It was an impromptu action due to the fact that the band Södra bergens balalaikor was banned from performing at a concert in the city of Uppsala in Sweden because of the balalaikas.

This touched us a little, because music is an eternal art, it should be out of time, out of politics.

And the Russian folk instruments we play are part of the world's heritage,” said Andrey Dolgov, conductor of Teremov.

He specified that six soloists of the orchestra performed the hits Dancing Queen and Gimme! on balalaikas.

According to Dolgov, the audience actively clapped.

The concert of the Swedish band Södra bergens balalaikor was canceled in Uppsala because of the balalaikas.

The organizers were said to have faced pressure from those who did not want to see these musical instruments on stage during the event in support of Ukraine.
