The bad weather calms down in Guadeloupe, a man still missing

The weather is calming down in Guadeloupe.

A man, however, was still missing on Sunday when the vigilance for heavy rains and thunderstorms was lifted in the early morning after bad weather that killed two people, said the prefecture.

The region was hit by exceptional rainfall overnight from Friday to Saturday.

The rainfall thus "exceeded 300 mm, a phenomenon greater than that recorded during cyclone Maria" in 2017, the authorities pointed out.

Since then, "the restoration of the electrical distribution is ensured on almost all of the territory" even if "some difficulties remain in the municipality of Gosier".

However, Pointe-à-Pitre and a large part of the city of Les Abymes are still suffering "significant water cuts".
