On April 29, a 4-year-old boy died buried in the sand between wave-dissipating blocks on the coast of Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture. We conducted an emergency inspection of the coast.

On April 29, Riki Harada (4), who was visiting with her mother from Akita Prefecture, died buried in the sand between the wave-dissipating blocks on the Ibii coast in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture.

Police believe Harada fell between the blocks.

The site is near the confluence of the waterway and the sea, and according to the prefecture, the block was placed 6 years ago, and after that, it seems that it was buried in the sand due to the influence of waves and wind.

The prefecture said that the sand that filled the gaps in the blocks may have been washed away by water and created cavities. I did it.

Of these, at the "Kooku Kaigan" in Nichinan City, 12 staff members from the Nichinan Civil Engineering Office of the prefecture inspected the wave-dissipating block of the revetment from 10:30 am and stabbed the gap filled with sand with a stick from above. I checked if there were any cavities.

Masato Toda, director of the Nichinan Civil Engineering Office in Miyazaki Prefecture, said, "For the coast where the accident occurred, I would like to confirm the situation at that time from the police and fire department, consider whether countermeasures are necessary, and ensure safety." ..
