It was the book publisher's idea to publish her poetry in a collection volume, and at first Ann Jäderlund was critical of the fact that it would be done right now.

- It's a little strange to have your collected poems published before you die, I thought.

But when I see the collection of poems now, I like it a lot, the poems become different when there are so many.

I do not know if they will be calmer in any way by being allowed to hang together.

In "Poems 1985 - 2019", her entire previous production has been collected.

- I do not think of myself as a good poet, but I probably have such a hope when I write that I will influence others and the world, but I understand at the same time that it is not possible, especially not as I write, says Ann Jäderlund.

"Longed for easy writing"

Ann Jäderlunds is often described as a innovator of Swedish poetry, among other things for her way of putting ordinary words into contexts that give them new meanings.

Her poetry has been discussed, and in some cases even criticized, for being difficult to understand.

- I can long to write easily, but it makes no sense for me to write very directly or prose-like or orally.

You do not have to understand everything through your reason.

Writing a protected zone

For Ann Jäderlund, writing has become a protected zone that she always longs for.

But she has also considered stopping writing, with the reason that she would then have more time to pay attention to her loved ones.

- I think it's good too, that I kind of try to quit sometimes.

But somehow it feels like writing is in my soul or in my DNA, and I think it's nice to be in that protective zone.
