On April 29, Langzixia Prison is located in the ancient city of Barkhor in Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region, next to the Jokhang Temple. It was built during the period of the Fifth Dalai Lama and has a history of more than 300 years.

It was the former site of the unit in charge of Lhasa's government affairs by the local government of Tibet, and it was also the prison set up by the old Tibet in Lhasa.

On March 28, 1959, the State Council issued an order to dissolve the Kashag local government, and Langzixia Prison was officially closed.

In 1996, Langzixia was designated as a protection unit at the Tibet Autonomous Region level.

At present, torture instruments and shotguns from the beginning of the last century are displayed here, and the scenes of previous prison cells, courtrooms and other places are restored as much as possible.

It has also become a check-in place for ordinary citizens and tourists to visit the ancient city.
